"I’m going to kindly ask you to stop threatening to stab my brother."
Sam felt a small smile tug at her lips as Ashley talked to the woman with Kyle. She knew that in her current mental state she would not be able to come off as threatening in anyway, so she was glad that Ashley stepped in when she asked her to. Watching the three that did not belong to them closely, Sam made sure none of them were going to panic and attack them, but soon she caught sight of movement in her peripheral vision. She turned, raising an eyebrow as Jack came towards, her, the girl taking a step back and soon enough she felt his lips on hers. She blinked, shocked at the action, but soon enough she kissed him back, melting into him. Well hot damn, he understood what the hell just happened. Who'd have thunk?
Jack pulled away, and Sam turned a bright red. She knew everyone was staring, great. Center of attention. Before she could really say anything or get mad at him for taking so long, she felt him hug her and she tensed. Still not used to people being so affectionate after a brush with death. She kind of... awkwardly stood there (much like Jack did these past couple years if Sam should offer such affection, which was rare) but she felt herself unwind when she heard his voice again.
"Don't scare me like that again."
The girl shook her head, wrapping her arms around his waist in the hug and giving him a squeeze. "Can't promise that, but I will do my best. You know how dying terrifies me anyway," she murmured quietly, pulling him closer so she could enjoy his warmth. She shivered lightly, but soon heard Jack talking to Eric on the earpieces.
The brunette released herself from Jack's grip, giving his hand a light squeeze as she went to go inspect the KO'ed controllers. The woman was the closest, besides the man she was pretty sure she put into a coma with that wooden board, but Sam tilted her head lightly. There was something about her... Using her shoe, the Animorph turned the woman over so she could get a good look at her face and she froze. She felt her legs attempt to give out on her and she backed away from the woman. There, lying on the ground, the one who shot her... Was her sister, Amy, who never came home all those years ago. Samantha felt her body go cold, following her instincts as she backed up from the unconscious woman as quickly as she could before she ran into Jack's tall body again. She immediately latched onto the boy, burying her face in his chest and holding him tight as she shook in terror. She had NO idea what to do at this point. Her sister was the controller that almost killed her! Her own SISTER. What the hell was she going to do now?! Placing a finger to her own earpiece, the girl kept her face buried in Jack's chest as she called Eric once again. "Eric... I want to talk to my dad..."
"Whadda ya need that for?"
"Could you just do it, please?"
"Fine,"
"What's the matter Troublemaker?"
"Dad... Amy... She... She's the one who... She..." she sputtered, trying to form coherent sentences as she avoided looking in Amy's direction. It sucked when you were trying to deal with 20 emotions at once. Why couldn't she be a boy for 5 minutes?! Geez! "She's the controller who almost killed me."

Now what? --
Yes, freedom! Sweet freedom! Their cages were unlocked by a young, blond-haired woman-- he said young, though for all he knew, she could be older than him. That was doubtful though since she did look incredibly young. Either way, Elijah let her pull him out. Once his Converse trainers hit ground, he smiled again. It felt fantastic to not be cramped up in a cage any longer. Better still, he wasn't about to become a Controller today, and the Animorphs happened to be the ones that rescued him and his fellow prison mates. There were a few of them here too. One of them went in to get the other Animorph in the van, and then there were... three or four total? Yes, the one that had been yelling, another one that had been yelling, and then the two that looked like siblings near the van.
Goodness, they all looked so young. He didn't know why this fact was sticking out to him, but it was. Were all of the Animorphs younger than him? That was a bit... different. Awkward. Pick a word. Might as well introduce himself though, and thank them for saving him. What next though? He had no idea where to go from here, though that was typical-- jump first, think while jumping. No, first introductions, then think about what to after that.
Looking around, he decided to pick the blond Animorph that he saw go into the van. Huh, she looked similar to the Animorph he had been captured with; maybe siblings? He walked up to her and smiled. "Hello," he said, offering his hand to shake, "Elijah Townsend, nice to meet you." He took his hand back. "And you are? Guessing you lot are the Animorphs. Thanks for coming to the rescue. Not too much trouble, were we?"

Even though the situation was mellowed out, it still took the voice of one of their own to get these people to do anything to assist those that were in the van. Richard was almost to the point that he was going to try kicking the door open with his feet, but finally one of the girls opened up the door and helped them out. She even untied his hands, which had fallen asleep some time ago but were finally waking up.
"Happy? Get out and stay with them,"
“Happy? No. Momentarily appeased? Yes.” It was hard to be happy when being freed from kidnappers by a group that seemed like they had been handpicked from a soap opera on television. If it weren’t for the fact that this was his only option at this point, Richard would have left the area immediately for better prospects, but for now he would have to deal with hanging with the Saved by the Bell castoffs. He waited for them to get Kiki and the Animorph out of the van, which was an interesting thing to see since Kiki was still holding the stick.
Richard moved over to stand by Kiki, who was technically the closest thing to a friend in Seattle. He wondered what was running through her head at this point in the rescue, but his focus soon changed as the rude girl who had spoken to him earlier said something that was truly shocking. It appeared that one of the people that had tried to make them into slaves was her relative, and that just made the whole situation a little awkward in Richard’s opinion. Now he expected something weird to happen like a girl crying, but instead she wanted to make a phone call through her ear.
This was not paid attention to as much as it should have been by Richard, but it was not any of his business what she said to whoever she was talking to. It seemed that the British guy didn’t see that she needed some space as he decided to tell them who he was. “I don’t think now is the best time for us to introduce ourselves since that could take quite a while. We should just get going while the going is good.”

The woman let Kyle go and climbed out of the van. Ashley then helped Kyle out of the van; half because she couldn’t resist giving him a hug and she wanted an excuse for being that close to him. She threw her arms around his neck and whispered the words, “Don’t you ever scare me like that again.” Not that he could keep that promise, and she knew it. They would always be in danger, thing would always happen, but it was nice to make sure he knew how worried she’d been. He was her brother, and right now he was kind of the only family she had. She felt like she was allowed to be protective. She didn’t hug him for long, because the public display of affection really wasn’t the style of either twin. Fortunately, Sam and Jack may have stolen the scene with the kiss that had just occurred between them. Ashley had kind of been hoping that something good would come out of the drama that had just occurred between them. Of course, she’d probably be keeping an eye on things with them, see where they went. This, however, seemed like a good sign. What wasn’t a good sign was when Sam recognized the one female controller. Ashley knew about Sam’s sister, Amy, who had been a controller in the first war and had never returned when the war had finished. She must have been on the ship that became the first slaves of The One. She would have tried to be there for Sam, but Jack and her father – via a phone call – seemed to be doing that. Besides, Ashley’s attention was quickly taken by one of the others they’d saved from the van – who introduced himself as Elijah while shaking her hand. Another of the former captives said that now wasn’t the best time for introductions, and while that might have been true… To her brother, she quickly said, “Kyle, can you call Eric to pick us up?” Then she returned her attention to Elijah and the other male. “It’s fine. We can do some introductions while we wait for our ride, because it will still take a bit.” Eric would be there soon, but not instantly. “It’s nice to meet you Elijah. I’m Ashley… and you already met my brother Kyle, whether or not you knew his name before now. Yes, we are the Animorphs… at least some of them. Kyle, myself, and the other male – his name is Jack – are the leaders of this little group.” Probably didn’t give the best impression of them, but… they were human. If these people expected the Animorphs to be super human in some way… they would end up disappointed. “And it was no trouble at all to save you. We should have had a better plan going into this, but… We try to do what we can to keep the yeerks from gaining any more unwilling hosts.”

It seemed the animorphs were just as glad to have everything work out as the captives were. Everyone was hugging and kissing and shaking hands. Kiki was glad that people were happy with their success, and nobody was more glad to have this whole fiasco done and over with than Kiki, but it still felt a little premature to celebrate. For one, they were still standing by a van in the middle of a road, next to some unconscious people and a pool of blood from the recent shootout. Anyone driving by would instantly know something strange was going on here. Regardless, there was strength in numbers and these were animorphs, so Kiki stayed with the group.
"I'm Kiki," she said plainly to the group bent on getting to know each other. She gave a half-hearted wave with one hand, but quickly went back to having her arms crossed. Apparently they were waiting for a ride, but Kiki had no idea why since there was a perfectly usable van idling right next to them. Was someone bringing a bus or something?
Kiki didn't have to wait long for her question to be answered though. A tingling feeling at the back of her neck warned Kiki that something in the environment had changed, but she couldn't figure out what. She looked around but couldn't spot anything. But finally her eye caught sight of a shape up above. It was like the sky opened a door in thin air, and suddenly Kiki could see the inside of a cloaked spacecraft.
Immediately Kiki's eyes widened and she went into fight or flight mode. It was only the lack of fear and surprise that the animorphs showed which kept Kiki from doing anything more. "Is that our ride?"

If Kyle had known that Jack had already called for Eric to come get them, he wouldn’t have sent the message like Ashley had asked. As it was, though, he felt like they needed to get out of there, and he didn’t know the call had been made, so he put his finger to his earpiece after moving away from his sister.
“Hey, Eric. We need a pick up.”
I’m on my way, already. Almost there in fact. Please be patient and don’t pester the tech guy. The tone was an obviously annoyed one.
“Sorry. Just making sure.” Then again, it wasn’t like pestering the tech guy was something Kyle didn’t do ever. Sometimes he did, mostly because he was curious and felt like someone should know what they were doing on the ship in case they ever didn’t have Eric around for some reason. It did mean Kyle made a bit of a nuisance of himself, though.
Kyle then grabbed the rope Richard had been tied up with and made his way over to the female controller, putting his fingers to her neck to check for a pulse after he checked her for weapons. “She’s alive.” Then, without much hesitation he said, “We’re taking her with us. Probably we should take the other two as well. They might have information we can use, and after three days they’ll be free.” The yeerks would only last that long. Less if they hadn’t fed recently. He tied her up as he spoke. They’d need to keep an eye on these three for a few days, but it could very well be worth it.
He looked up when he heard Kiki speak, seeing the open door of the ship and smiling. “That’s our ride. Welcome to The Sanctuary, our mobile command center.” He grabbed Amy – since it seemed that was the girl’s name. He didn't know or care about the yeerk – and started carrying her to the ship. “If someone could carry or drag those other two, I can show you to where we can lock them up until they’ve been freed. Otherwise, it’s probably best to just get on board and worry about introductions and explanations once we’re in the air. We don’t want more controllers coming and finding us when these three don’t show up.” Or finding them by chance while they stayed here like sitting ducks, because that outcome was just as bad.
