This was just not her week. Shivering and curling herself up into a ball, the brown-haired girl pulled her covers over her face and she kept herself hidden. She was not in the mood to deal with people. She had almost died! For the love of god! It was horrible!
Death was one of the things she feared more than anything else in the world. The other things she feared included losing her friends and the end of the world, but they all kind of go together so they were not worth mentioning. Regardless, the fact that she had been shot-by her own sister, mind you-and almost died right in front of the boy she cared about was probably two of the most terrifying things combined into one. She had never told Jack how she felt, nor did she do a very good job at showing it, and the fact that she had almost died saving him probably was what made everyone catch on. That, and the fact that Evvie had outed her while yelling at Jack and making her try to morph.
Sure, it worked, but did she really have to yell at Jack to get to her? For the love of-well, you get the picture. It was just not a fun day. Then again, Jack did seem to process how she felt because he kissed her right after she demorphed, but either way it was a day full of a billion different emotions. Now, she couldn't deal with them all. Too many emotions to deal with! WHY WAS SHE SUCH A GIRL?! Pulling her covers closer to her she shivered and buried her face into her pillow. Sure, she was being stupid and hiding in her room, refusing to come out for a couple days, but so what?! Couldn't people just leave her alone?!

All and all it hadn't been the best couple of days for Jack. After all seeing the girl you just realized you loved almost die and then have her locked up in her room right afterwords wasn't the best of times. There was also the fact that the controller who almost killed her happened to be using Sam's sister as a host which probably had to do with why Sam had been avoiding everybody. As much as he hadn't really wanted to, he let Sam have some space. But it was starting to get ridiculous. He couldn't stand her being like this and today had decided he would check up on her.
Jack walked over from the bridge towards Sam's room. He paused in front of the door for a moment, unsure how this would go. For all he knew he could end up making things worse, but he had to try to get her out of this funk. He couldn't stand to not do anything anymore. His mind made up, Jack knocked on her door. "Hey, Sam. Its Jack. Wanted to check up on you. Can you let me in?" he asked through the door. He couldn't imagine how Sam was feeling at the moment, but he hoped that he could make her feel better even if it was just a little bit.

"Hey, Sam. Its Jack. Wanted to check up on you. Can you let me in?"
Sam sighed, hearing Jack's voice outside of her door. He was probably the only person she could not keep out of her room at the moment. He was probably the only person who would find a way in there whether she let him in or not, so she figured she'd save a lot of trouble-and damage to the ship-and let him in. Her arm snaked out from under her covers, smacking the button on her dresser as she heard the door slide open.
She waited until he was in the room before she smacked the button again and the door closed, burying herself deeper into her covers as she waited to hear what he had to say. Jack had made no effort to see her these past couple days. Only her parents had. Then again, Evvie came in to yell at her, but that was about it. No one else made an effort. If they did, then she had no knowledge of it. "What do ya want Blue Eyes?" she murmured, turning over under the covers as she peeked out from under them

For a moment, Jack thought Sam either hadn't heard him or was ignoring him. After all there was no response for a moment. He was about to knock again, but the door then suddenly opened. Jack stepped in and saw Sam press the button on her dresser to close the door behind him. She was hidden under her covers, which made him frown. She was obviously upset, and he didn't like seeing her like this. Then again she had almost died, by the hands of her own sister no less. It wasn't like he should have expected her to be okay.
"I'm concerned," he told her not really sure what to say. He thought he might have know what to say when he got here, but he didn't. He wasn't sure what to do to make her feel better. "You've been in here for days, haven't really said a word to anyone. You can't stay in your room forever," He walked over and sat at the edge of her bed. He looked over there, his face showing how concerned he was. "I thought giving you some space might help you, but it just seems to have done nothing....so here I am," He really should have thought more about what to say before he got here. "Just....is there anything I can do to make you feel better? Anything at all?" he asked. "I don't like seeing you like this,"

"You've been in here for days, haven't really said a word to anyone. You can't stay in your room forever,"
"Can't I try? It's nice and warm under the covers, and nobody tries to kill you..." she grumbled, pulling up the covers from over her head as she sat up. She looked like a mess, but that was probably because the only time she got out of her room was to shower and to go to the bathroom. Today? She only left to shower and her hair was still wet. Great way to greet the sort-of-boyfriend or whatever he was, but whatever. He'd seen worse. He saw her covered in blood for pete's sake! Jack should be fine with wet hair.
"I don't like seeing you like this,"
Sam sighed, pulling her legs up to her chest as Jack sat at the end of her bed. She pat the spot beside her, wanting him closer, and watched him closely as she tried to figure out what he wanted her to do. Sure, she was not in the mood to leave the room, but at least Jack was there to keep her company. Feeling a few damp strands of hair fall from her face, the brunette rubbed her eyes. "I don't like being like this, but I guess I caught myself up on all the sleep I lost..." she answered, stretching her sore limbs as she watched him closely. "Unfortunately, I don't really know what else you can do except just be here... I just... Don't feel like dealing with my horrible life right now."

It wasn't any surprise to Jack that Sam was still upset at almost dying. After all who wouldn't be? Still, it wasn't an excuse she could keep holding onto for long. Though he didn't know what exactly he could say to that. Anything he could say probably would make things worse, so he didn't reply to that. He saw Sam pat a spot closer to her and he moved over to it. She told him next she didn't like how she was being either and made a comment on catching up on sleep. He gave her a small smile at that comment but he would still have liked to see her out of here and back to her normal self.
She told Jack that he being here was something he could do, also mentioning about not wanting to deal with her horrible life. Granted their lives could be better, but he didn't think it was exactly horrible. Maybe he could point that out. "Okay," he responded to her. "But I don't think its all that bad. You still have your parents, your brothers too. You have friends. You now even have your sister back...kind of," Maybe that last one was a bad example, but they had a chance of freeing her. He moved back some of Sam's wet strands of hair that fallen and covered her face. "And you have me right?" he asked with a small smile. "Your life can't be too horrible then, right?"

"But I don't think its all that bad. You still have your parents, your brothers too. You have friends. You now even have your sister back...kind of,"
Samantha snorted in amusement, shaking her head as she sighed. Mentioning her sister at the moment was something she would usually beat someone up for, but she didn't feel like beating Jack upside the head at the moment. He would give her that puppy dog face and she did not think she would be able to handle that face now that they were... What the hell were they?! They really needed to talk about that...
"And you have me right? Your life can't be too horrible then, right?"
Brown eyes watched the boy closely as he moved back the damp strands that fell into her eyes. She sighed, watching him closely as she tried to figure out what to say next. "Yeah, I guess not. Even though I have absolutely, positively no idea what to do with you now that we're home and you are no longer panicking," she smiled gently, leaning her forehead against his. "Off subject, but what exactly are we going to do now...?" she asked, tilting her head curiously. She seriously did not feel like taking a step back now that she finally got him. That would really truly suck and make things even worse.

Jack was glad he had gotten a smile out of Sam. He was confidant in guessing that was probably the first smile she had in the past few days. He was glad she agreed with him that her life wasn't so bad. She brought her forehead to meet his and mouthed the word "Ow" in jest. She asked him what they were going to do now and truthfully he wasn't sure just yet. "Good question," he replied as he thought about it. What were they going to do now? He for sure wasn't going to continue on as if nothing had happened between them for one thing.
"I guess if you want..." Jack started off as he leaned in closer. He soon pressed his lips onto hers for a kiss, before leaning back. "We could do that," he finished. He gave her a smile. "Though you need to come out of your room. I'm not about to be the boyfriend of some shut-in," he lightly teased. Though he then realized that was really the first time either of them had referred to each other as such. That was what they were right? He could feel his cheeks begin to turn a bit red. "Uh, that is what we're aiming for right?" It felt kind of weird to be saying it out loud now, the last two years having been spent as just friends and comrades. Though it also felt right and he hoped Sam felt the same way. Otherwise this would just be incredibly awkward.

Seeing him mouth the word 'ow', the girl pulled a face and gave him a light swat across the arm. "Buttface!" she crowed, resuming her place that was closer to him and waited for his reply. Hopefully they were on the same page and he would not want to take a step backwards as well.
"I guess if you want... We could do that, though you need to come out of your room. I'm not about to be the boyfriend of some shut-in."
"Oh, so I'm your girlfriend AND a shut in, am I?" she laughed, teasing him as his face turned red. THAT was probably one of the most adorable things she'd ever seen.
"Uh, that is what we're aiming for right?"
Grinning as she leaned into him, kissing him deeply and running her fingers through his hair as she pulled him closer. "You seriously think I would go two years of feeling this way, take two bullets for you, almost die, and want to take a step backwards? Oh HELL no, do you even know me at all Flynn?" she snickered, shaking her head as she smiled at him once again. Leaning back against him, the brunette sighed as she flopped into his lap, still not too keen on the idea of leaving the room. Her head on his lap, the girl sheepishly grinned up at him. "Besides, you still have yet to ask me out officially, so we can not really do much about anything until we get that sorted out," she continued, sticking her tongue out at him with a wink. Yes, she was being silly, but that was how she was. At least, when Jack was around.

Jack mouthed the word "Ow" again when Sam hit his arm and grinned. She was starting to get back to normal and that was great. It seemed he was being successful in stopping Sam from being mopey. The fact that she had even started teasing him back was quite a relief, even if he was a bit embarrassed. "Well I was hoping you were just my girlfriend and we can drop the shut in part," he teased back as he returned her kiss. He felt himself being pulled closer as she explained that of course she wasn't going to take any steps backward. A big grin formed on his face. "Just wanted to double check. Who knows what goes on in the minds of you girls?" he teased back.
All the same it was still a relief to hear out loud. Sam then plopped her head down on his lap and Jack looked down at her with a smile. He ran his fingers through her hair, it was still a bit wet but that didn't matter to him. It was then she said he had yet to ask her out officially and then stuck her tongue at him. "What? You're gonna seriously make me do that?" he asked teasingly. Knowing Sam, yes she was going to. He stuck out his tongue back at her. "Fine, but only because its you," he teased. He then cleared his throat. "Samantha James, would you like to go out with me?" he asked, trying to sound as formal as possible. He then gave her a wink. "There, happy? You've officially been asked out," he teased.

"Well I was hoping you were just my girlfriend and we can drop the shut in part,"
"And that's just something every girl wants to hear, thank you dearest," she grinned, pulling a face at him as she stuck her tongue out once again. She heard him continue and she shrugged, throwing her arms up to emphasize her point. "Hell if I know, and I've been a girl my whole life. There is no hope for anyone to understand the female species."
"Fine, but only because its you. Samantha James, would you like to go out with me? There, happy? You've officially been asked out."
"'Course I'm happy ya crazy! Could deal without the tone though, Sarcasmo," she smiled, enjoying the feeling of his fingers through her hair. It was much like when she was in morphed form and Jack would scratch behind her ears (at least, when she was Sandy) and it made her feel a little better about things. Her gaze fell once again, the girl staring at the area where his stomach was as her eyes glazed over in thought. What was she going to do now about the craziness her family had to deal with? She was NOT talking to Amy, that was for sure. Regardless, she sighed and started to lightly draw patterns into his shirt with her finger as she started to think. "Jack, are you mad at me...? For what happened at the van?" she asked quietly, not bothering to look up at him. She knew the subject was sensitive-mostly because of the way he had panicked when she was hit-but she wanted to make sure there was nothing that would stand between them. She wanted this to work and she wanted to make sure Jack was alright. She had not been able to comfort him in the state she was in when they got home and she wanted to make sure he was okay.

Jack couldn't help but chuckle at Sam's response, admitting herself she had no idea what went on in a girl's mind. "Well if even you don't know what goes on in a girl's mind, you can hardly blame me for making sure I have the right idea," he teased. He was glad to hear her say she was happy too, it was a great change from her moping under the covers. "Oh you know you love it," he teased in response to her comment about tone. He continued to run his fingers through her hair. This felt nice, it was for sure an improvement over the last couple days.
There was a bit of silence for awhile and then Jack heard Sam ask something he wasn't exactly expecting right now. He was asked if he was mad at her for what happened. "Well you saved my life, I can't exactly be mad at that," he responded to her as he thought about how to answer. Was he really mad at her though? "I'm more mad at myself than anything. I should have been paying more attention. Should have been the one to notice and push you out of the way," he said softly. He looked back down at her with a frown. "You shouldn't have had to deal with that," It bothered him immensely that Sam had almost died because of him. He'd make sure that would never happen again.

"Well if even you don't know what goes on in a girl's mind, you can hardly blame me for making sure I have the right idea,"
"Of course, of course" she rolled her eyes, chuckling lightly. At his comment about the tone, she rolled her eyes once again. It was something she enjoyed, but also something she hated. Yes, Samantha was one of the people who could dish it out but not handle it when it was tossed back in her face. So unfortunate. She smiled, feeling his fingers continue to glide through her hair and she watched him closely. It was a nice feeling, she had to admit, and unlike most other girls she did not care how her hair looked when he was done playing with it. Well, she cared a little bit at least...
"I'm more mad at myself than anything. I should have been paying more attention. Should have been the one to notice and push you out of the way. You shouldn't have had to deal with that."
He was thinking about what Evvie yelled at him about. She knew it, she could sense it. That was one of the things that bothered her about the whole situation. It was her own fault for putting herself into danger and who does Evvie blame? (Even though it was only to get a rise out of Sam and make her morph?) Jack. The girl sat up, pulling herself closer to him and she placed a slow kiss on his lips to calm him. Breaking the kiss after a moment, she ran her fingers through his hair and pulled him closer to her. "Don't you blame yourself. It was my fault in the first place. I should have made you come with me down the alley, and I was the one who pushed you out of the way. Do not blame yourself, regardless of what Evvie said. You know her, she does things to get a rise out of me. She only yelled at you because she was trying to bug me, and it worked, but still..."
Looking him in the eyes, the girl sighed and stroked his face with her thumb as her hand came to rest upon his cheek. "You are a great leader. No one needs to tell you otherwise. There's nothing to fear in that respect, you're fine," she murmured softly. Yes, she had taken a few strategies that her mother used to calm her father at this moment, but it was Jack. He knew her very well and he knew that she did not blow sunshine up people's asses to make them feel better. What she was saying was true, and she knew it. Jack was not a bad leader, far from it! He kept them all from dying all these years, was it really so horrible to return the favor every once in awhile? "You look after all of us and you take great care of us. I refuse to watch you beat yourself up because of this. Understand? You gotta let us protect you every once in awhile, alright?"

Jack watched Sam sit up after he had spoke. He soon felt her lips pressed against his once again and he returned the kiss. Then Sam went on to explain that it wasn't his fault for what happened and that he shouldn't blame himself. However, how could he not? He was one of the leaders around here and keeping everyone safe was one of his responsibilities. Even with what Evvie said, he probably would have felt the same way. He should have been more careful, and he should have noticed the controller. They were lucky this time that everyone made it out, but would they be so lucky the next time?
Sam then went on to tell him he was a good leader and that he had managed to keep everyone safe the past few years. She also told him that he should let them protect him sometimes too. He wanted to protest, but how could he argue against Sam? He still didn't like the idea of others protecting him no matter what she said though. "Its still my responsibility to make sure everyone stays safe," he finally replied. "But... I do see your point. I just can't help it," He gave her a small smile. "I wouldn't be me otherwise,"

"Its still my responsibility to make sure everyone stays safe. But... I do see your point. I just can't help it, I wouldn't be me otherwise."
"Yeah, I know" she smiled, shaking her head lightly. "Would probably not love you as much as I do if you didn't feel that way."
Sighing deeply, she knew that Jack was not liking the idea of everyone protecting him, and she rolled her eyes, giving him a light smile. "Tell ya what. You can watch my back extra carefully, but only if you allow me to watch yours every once in awhile," she answered, smiling as she leaned her forehead against his once again. "Deal?"
Waiting a few more minutes, enjoying how close they were, the girl soon pat her boyfriend's knee and got up from under the covers. Wandering over to the closet, the girl soon closed the door on herself as she started to get herself dressed. She was fine, hopefully Jack knew not to follow her in there... THAT would be rather awkward if he walked in when she was naked.
