A Note: On Morph-Capable Controllers
Well, obviously these characters exist. Their existence being something a member had pointed out to us recently. Some of The One's controllers are going to be morph-capable because many of the ones on that ship that had escaped were. Some of the controllers in the ranks of the yeerks are going to be too, because there were hosts who gained the power to morph while they were controllers the first time and there were people Jake was training to use morphs as a combat class.
How are we going to deal with their existence while not letting it get out of control? Our current feelings - which can be discussed and possibly changed as time goes on - are this.
1. Morph-capable controllers will be rare. We will not allow as many of them as regular controllers and we may be a little tougher when deciding whether to accept the character application or not.
2. There must be a 1 in 10 ratio of morph-capable controllers to regular controllers. This means for every morph-capable controller that exists there must be around 9 or 10 regular controllers on the site.
The regular controllers can be evil - working for the Empire or The One - or they can be YPM controllers. It's the total that matters, not the type. [/li][/ul] 3. Starting out, morph-capable controllers will only get a bird morph, a battle morph, and either a land or water morph - it is your choice which to get. This decision was made because we feel the yeerks will be less concerned with balance. They will want a powerful morph for fighting and a bird morph for escape. We couldn't agree on whether they would want a land or water morph more, so that became the decision of the player to make. However we felt like they wouldn't see the need for something like an insect morph. This is not to say that you cannot get those morphs down the road. Just like Animorphs, you will be able to gain new morphs. This just means you start with less. Seeing as you get a dracon beam too, this isn't entirely unfair. [/li][/ul] That is all we have to say on the matter at the present time. As we said these rules can be discussed and changed. Please post questions regarding this announcement on this thread. - Your Admins[/blockquote]

Rule two says that there can only be one morph-capable controller for every nine or ten controllers who aren't morph-capable. Do the nine or ten non morphers need to be on the site before you will accept a morpher, or can the morpher come first?
And on a related note, do the nine or ten controllers have to be controllers on accounts, or do prominent NPC controllers count in that total as well?

No. we are not going to require that there be 9 or 10 non-morphing controllers before we will accept a morph-capable one. We just wanted a balance. So if there is 1 morph-capable controller and 4 non-morphing controllers, there need to be 5 more non-morphing controllers made before we will accept another morph-capable one. As long as we reach intervals of 10 and have the right ratio (1 morph-capable in every 10 controllers... or roughly that) when we get there, we don't much care what order the controllers were made in.
As for the second question, I think we were initially considering the nine or ten needed to be controllers on accounts. I'll talk with Tim about the possibility of some of them being prominent NPCs - also what it would take for the NPC controllers to be considered "prominent NPCs" so that there is no confusion about whether an NPC controller would count or not. For now figure that it needs to be registered accounts and if it changes we will post something.

Ok, we have an answer regarding prominent NPCs. Tim is not entirely on board with including them, and we both worry that such allowance might get abused. We've come to an agreement on the following terms.
1. We will allow up to 2 Prominent NPCs to be counted toward the 9 or 10 non-morphing controllers needed before we will allow another morph-capable controller. I know 2 isn't a lot. It is essentially about 20% of the controllers. We just don't want people making 10 prominent NPCs and then saying they can make another morph-capable controller. Majority of the non-morphing DO have to be accounts. [li] NPCs who have appeared in multiple threads. Preferably 3 or more appearances. Please consider having the NPC keep coming back - unless they are killed - so we don't have a whole list of unused NPCs. [/li][li] On that note, they must have been used at least fairly recently. It's not really fair to count a character who isn't actively being used. Sure they exist, but what good do they do us if we aren't using them? If they haven't been used in two months, it's hard to say they're really a prominent at the current time. [/li][li] They must have a name. This is so their multiple appearances can be confirmed. [/li][li] This is more of a bonus, but Prominent NPCs will be allowed to have a face claim because they are a recurring character and it's nice to know what they look like.[/li][/ul] So an example of A Prominent NPC would be Eric Pym, the Animorphs' tech guy. True he hasn't been in enough threads YET, but he WILL be frequently showing up and we claimed a face for him because we knew this. We did it kind of backwards with him, but in his case we knew he would become a Prominent NPC. 2. The admins have the right to discontinue counting Prominent NPCs if we see this being abused in any way. I currently don't see this being an issue, but we're tossing it in as a just-in-case for if things get out of hand.[/blockquote]
