Xerxes watches people and judges their every little action. He finds most things that people do to be pointless and overrated. He also gets annoyed very easily.
If one were to enter his personal quarters on the blade ship and were to spend a few moments searching the place, on would find a simple, unmarked black sketchbook with a hardback binding. In it is a series of character observations of each individual he has encountered so far. He continually makes updates to it, whenever he acquires new information. Though primarily unnecessary, he keeps this little observation journal as a tiny spark of hope that perhaps people actually do have the capacity for change.
Although one would hope for the better.
These are excerpts from his journal.

Name: Shiro (No other names are known at this time. Yeerk designation is similarly obscured.)Personality Analysis:Shiro is a predator. Every move is precise, every word is chosen with care. He actively engages in many types of manipulations in order to achieve his goal. He attempted to draw me away from a public location in order to either kill or infest me. This shows a calculating mentally, one that not only seeks the most efficient manner in which to succeed, but also one that draws little attention and has a high potential to leave no trace. He’s clearly trained in combat and this shows even when walking. He appears to always be watching everything and always ready to attack. He seems capable of switching off morality and any semblance of emotion to get the job done. However, this seems to be a Yeerk aspect, as it would have no need of such things when performing a duty. Regardless, he’s proven to be able to temporarily hold his own against a Komodo dragon. He is not to be taken lightly. He’s capable of fully supporting any lie he speaks. He is quite believable and manages to project a certain sincerity with his words. This may be due to the Yeerk’s ability to control even his microexpressions, keeping each feature perfect, but even so one must still have a spark in order to build a fire. This host is an artful actor. Shiro thinks on his feet and has shown to be highly adaptable to new circumstance. He constantly attempted new tactics to string me along. In fact, they were successful. Only Javier’s appearance exposed Shiro’s ruse. Positive Traits:- Concise. He cuts straight to the point.
- He does not engage in flowery language.
- He thinks with his head and ignores emotional entrapments
- He has high standards for himself, possibly a personal code. This is evidence in the way he carries himself and in how he conducts himself.
- Never contradicts himself.
- Clearly capable of holding his own in any situation.
- Willing to cut his loses.
Negative Attributes:- Seems slightly shocked when events do not pan out to his intentions.
- Seems to have some of the characteristics of a used-car salesman or a con-artist.
Additional Information:- He is capable of morphing. So far, only an insect-like creature with a black exoskeleton has been witnessed.
Conclusion:Shiro is an extremely dangerous controller. Stay away from him at all costs. Given that he’s capable of intricate strategies, saying anything and sounding believable, advanced fighting abilities, and the morphing power, you are disadvantaged no matter what. Suggested tactic in dealing with him: keep him off balance with surprise. Ambushes may prove effective. When all else fails, run away very quickly.

Name:Javier Personality Analysis:Javier is an extremely helpful individual. Although he is given to long-windedness, he usually has a point and merely believes in giving additional information. While not always helpful, at least he does not severely add to the wasteful production of carbon dioxide that other people are prone to do (See: Kiki). He’s quite open and honest. He’s more than happy to answer any question, giving an abundance of information. I cannot fault him for saying too much, as his answers have yet to fail covering a single aspect of the subject. In retrospect, his single, monologue-style answers are more effective than a series of simple questions and answers. While not necessarily precise, Javier has a tendency to fully explore a topic, leaving no trace of confusion. Even when speaking bluntly, Javier has a method of spouting off what could almost be mistaken for pre-prepared speeches that leave no questions. He’s quite gifted in communicating. His manner also have have overwhelming effects that may temporarily prevent an individual from processing everything he has said. This may give him an edge in negotiations. The trick, though, seems to rely on ignoring anything that isn’t immediately necessary. Unfortunately, not many people in my experience have shown any ability to filter out what is important or not. (See: Kiki). He’s proven to be almost shockingly kind and generous. He’s proven that he does not mind literally charging into a conflict as a method of potentially saving someone. This may lead to his demise, though. While I am thankful he chose to intervene in my unwitting capture, such actions may in the long run prove to be fatal. This bears watching, as he might eventually need someone to save him from himself. Javier is also trusting. Perhaps too much so. I am still of the opinion that he should have established a few more definitive tests before allowing me to accompany him back to the headquarters. This could lead to a potential security breach. What if I were a complex trap designed to sneak a mole onto the Animorphs? Or at least realy their location to my betters. This is another aspect of Javier that I may have to be on guard for. I can’t let his emotions possibly ruin the war effort. Positive Traits:- Competent
- Informative
- High rate of success in knowing when not to speak
- Highly knowledgeable about many useful things
- Rational
- Does not seem to rely on what others think of him
- Honest when needed
- Thinks ahead
Negative Attributes:- Tendency to state the obvious or begin speaking with an inane remark
- Slight superhero complex
- Can become too helpful; overeager
- Wastes effort in excessive readiness. Being prepared is excellent, but one should not bring out dozens and dozens of changes and hundreds of outfit possibilities for a beginner’s first morphing lesson.
- Occasionally brings up irrelevant personal information
Additional Information:- Morphing arsenal includes, but may not be limited to: walking stick, pangolin, puffin, Komodo dragon, whatever a nautilus is.
- Commanding; can easily capture attention; unconsciously demands respect
- Javier seems to be a very passionate person. He smiles quite a bit, but it is easy enough to detect mood differences in him. This may lead to exploitation. Yet strong emotions and such (when controlled and kept in check) do not seem to be a terrible thing in every circumstance.
- He does not seem to have any sort of rank. Perhaps there is no formal system amongst the Animorphs?
Conclusion:Javier is a worthy ally. He’s intelligent and has proven capable of actually applying his brain to situations. He seems prepared for any eventuality and can handle himself in nearly any situation. He is an acceptable presence to be around, as he contributes quite a bit to any conversation or remains quiet, when needed. He is worth the effort of establishing social interaction with.

Name:Kiki Personality Analysis:Kiki is a loud-mouthed individual with very little sense or tact. This is readily obvious because every thought that cross her brain is vocalized. She rarely censors herself and does not seem to be capable of understanding the correct time to speak. Perhaps she is cerebrally impaired; it must be by birth, otherwise morphing would cure any lasting brain damage. She’s excessively fond of speaking. She may have some form of narcissism, causing her to be in love with her own voice when there is no merit to it. I hypothesis that she cannot survive for more than two minutes without hearing herself talk. I do not recall her having surpassed this time limit when circumstances allowed her to speak to someone. While talking a great deal is a somewhat strength of Javier, in Kiki it is an irreparable flaw. Listening to her is akin to listening to static on a radio: you learn nothing and you only become annoyed and desire for it to be shut up. Kiki is impulsive. She acts on a whim and has not shown any evidence of foresight or planning ahead. She alternates between making very brief decisions and questioning everything around her. It seems that 14.6 percent of her unnecessary dialogue is composed of rhetorical questions and simple observations. However, this may be a result of a lack of self-confidence. She did not seem to be ready for a command position even in a two-person mission. In retrospect, I do not believe she had any real plan for retrieving the part we needed. She may have merely captivated on my proposal. If so, that shows a subtle deviousness that may be the result of desperation and laziness. Watch her: she shows signs of having to rely on those around her for much of her success. Kiki is reminiscent of the old idiom of a bull in a china shop. Based solely on her action in Montana, Kiki blunders into situations and tries to let them work themselves out. For instance, a sub-addition to the Montana Mission required the use of computer knowledge. She had neglected to bring anyone with such capabilities. Furthermore, she had no alternative escape plans or routes. Sheer luck enabled us to escape with the required part in the midst of an inter-faction raid. Kiki would’ve been dead many times over of it had not been for the intervention of myself or other parties. She is a danger to herself and possibly to those around her. Stay on your guard. She might kill you by taking up your oxygen. Positive Traits:- Easy to pick her hair out of a crowd; ideal for being bait
- Capable of piloting spacecraft
- Causes one to appreciate silence so much more
- Adaptable to new situations
Negative Attributes:- Every time she opens her mouth
- Lack of planning
- No exhibited skills that could be useful in field work
- Lack of competency
- Poor leadership skills
- Limited self-confidence
- Inability to remember names
- Prone to trouble; often requires others to save her
- She lacks the ability to focus on any one thing for long periods of time
- Unwilling to use lethal force if required
- Not a very educational source
- Seems to be a waste of space
- Talks to herself, out loud
- Unusual ability to land herself in dangerous situations
- Observation level is limited to the obvious, of which she makes certain that everyone is aware
- Panics easily, although she does not truly give in to it
- Does not cut losses; could lead to horrendous mistakes
- Only seems to be serious when her life is in immediate danger; otherwise, she has no sense of a correct time or place
- Egotistical; I’ve heard the password to her bug fighter
Additional Information:- She can morph a type of kingfisher. She can also morph a weasel or an obese, caucasian male. Tactical options are severely limited, as well as her usefulness.
- She has a deep abiding fear of being a Controller. Perhaps she has been one before.
Conclusion:Kiki should not be allowed around others. She does not seem proficient in dealing with people in social circumstances. She cannot keep her mouth shut or her thoughts to herself. She speaks, acts, and only then does she sometimes think. She does not plan and she seems to expect everything around her to work out like in a child’s fairy tale. She is....not right. If she has been infested before, perhaps she was a form of torture for the yeerk, similar to the way armed forces will blast loud music in order to get criminals to leave buildings. It would not surprise me if the yeerks had surrendered rather than continue putting up with her. The farther from her you can get, the less likely you will be to commit a homicide. Not that you wouldn't be doing the world a favor.
