PERSONALITY: Nyx did not give us much to work with in regards to finding out anything about Nolan’s personality. However, after a series of formal and informal question and answer sessions with him, and others, we were able to find out some information. Nyx revealed that his host’s mental state was somewhat ill-suited to him—absent-minded, romantic, and cowardly were his words of choice. The host, while clever to a certain extent, often got lost in thought, and forgot dates, appointments, and the like. Those aforementioned thoughts concerned the host’s relationship.
--Nyx described relationship as recently broken off. Through the use of social media, we were able to locate the host’s fiancée and obtain the following statement:
“Nolan and I were together for years—graduated college together. Then we lived in this apartment back in Buffalo. I met him when we were sophomores, and he liked sitting out in the park and writing in this journal of his. But yeah, he was really nice. When we started going out, he pretty much stayed that way—was a gentleman and stuff. We would stay up for hours talking about stupid stuff too; he always knew how to make me laugh. He was really quiet though when he was with other people. His best friend said he almost never talked with them, and he would always just stay in the back of the room where no one could see him. I think he was shy. I thought it was kind of cute.
I guess he sort of changed. He was still kind of shy, and he forgot everything. I had to remind him when our four year anniversary came up, or when his mother’s birthday was. He was such a scatterbrain! I finally got him to write down everything on a calendar so he wouldn’t forget—he still did. He was great though—he really was. … But then he changed. We were going to get married in ’09, and he just started acting different. He started coming home and he wouldn’t talk to me at all. That was the start of it. I don’t know how to describe it, but his whole mood changed. He got angry a lot, and he never did that before. He was mean to everyone, even me—I got the brunt of it. It hurt. He’d go out all the time with people I never met before, and God knew what he was doing. It was like someone else was living with me.”
His fiancée was not able to give us any more information. From her insights, and his history provided in part by her and Nolan’s mother, we were able to deduce the following: a quiet child from the start with slightly above average intelligence, and agreeable to most that met him. He was an introverted man that did not chase after any of his dreams and settled for the path that offered the least resistance, hence why Nyx called him cowardly. Nyx continued on that line of thought and described how his host often hid his own qualms or fears.
An interesting note: during one of our last sessions, Nyx revealed that the personality of his host was changing due to the prolonged infestation. He was attempting to resist Nyx’s hold, albeit without success. Nyx’s strategy for keeping a strong hold on Nolan, and rendering him essentially powerless, is explained in the following evaluation.
YEERK'S EVALUATION: LIKES:- His phone: at least a quarter of our interviews with him were done through text. Note of no importance: ringtone is “In For the Kill” by La Roux. He has not changed Nolan’s previous settings.
- Spearmint flavored gum.
- Spiders.
- Acting—he does seem drawn to theater.
- Tricking people.
DISLIKES:- When his orders are not followed
- Staying still for too long.
- Having to trust someone else to do something, or having to trust someone with information.
- Boredom.
- When no one notices his "great plans."
FEARS: - Death
- Not being recognized by what he calls the “Empire.”
- Someone beating him at his own game.
PERSONALITY: Compared to his host, Nyx was easier to assess. The Yeerk, like others that we’ve encountered before, has a particular knack for manipulation. He is not one to get caught dirty-handed in a crime, and is more likely to have someone else commit said crime for him; he seems more fond of the processes surrounding crime rather than actual crimes committed. His process seems to work successfully through the use of various aliases: he embraces new personalities when he feels the need to disappear, or for the sake of getting close to others through the use of disguises. He mentioned the Animorphs in particular, and stated that in the past, he made a point to stay outside of their radar—he did say he might try to set up an encounter “soon.”
Nyx observes from different points of view, gathers data, plans, and then moves. Sometimes, that involves getting involved in someone else’s plan and either purposely causing chaos, or aiding the process. If necessary, Nyx will get his hands dirty, and has no issue with murder—he will do anything for the sake of the Empire. Furthermore, we gathered that Nyx not only adapted to various situations with ease, but was ambitious. He intends to make a role for himself and ascend within the Empire; though, his loyalties seem to be only to himself. As for his relationship with his host, Nyx asserts that there is not much of one. Nolan was mostly submissive at the start, and the fact that he is only now just starting to resist is seen as hilarious. Oddly enough, Nolan is the one to keep Nyx’s rather unexpected bouts of anger, and his arrogance, in check. Unfortunately, that is about all his host can do.
BACKGROUND: HOMETOWN OF HOST: Buffalo, New York AFFILIATED WITH: The Yeerk Empire; has considered switching sides for his own benefit. HISTORY OF BOTH: “He was born right here in Buffalo with the rest of us. He had two older brothers, Dan and Jack. Dan was two years older and Jack was seven years older. We had a nice family for a while with their dad—he was a businessman, worked a lot and wasn’t home. I stayed at home with the boys most of the time since we lived in the city. They were good boys, all of them. Nolan was always shyer than his brothers, and quiet. I read to him a lot when he was still young.
All of them went to school. Nolan seemed to like school at the beginning—only didn’t start liking it until he was about ten or eleven. That’s when his dad and I started fighting over the money, over the kids, and everything else—forgot why I liked him. He didn’t like having children—never spent time with ‘em or anything since he was either working or arguing with me. He and Nolan didn’t get along for a long time, not like his brothers did. Now that you mention it, all three of them never got along either. They were always fighting and teasing each other; that’s what I remember anyway. Geez that was a long time ago. Jack’s got to be in his thirties by now. Nolan’s twenty something, I remember that. Dan’s just above him a little.
We separated when Nolan was almost twelve years old; the boys still got to visit him on the weekends though. After that, it was hard. Jack was in college on the other side of the state—business degree to follow in his dad’s footsteps. Dan only just started high school. We didn’t have a lot of money, but we got by. Nolan helped. He got a job at a grocery store when he was fourteen—always trying to help out. Around that time was when he started writing. You should have seen the stories he came up with; even the poems. I didn’t even like stories that much, but you bet I was proud of all of my sons. I just wish he stuck with it. When he went to college, I think his dad got to him because he went to school for business. He even told me that someone told him that writing stories wouldn’t get him anywhere. If you wanted to make money, you went into business. Wish I had stopped him then.
After that? I didn’t see him much—had an empty nest in my house, and it was hard to see my last boy go. Where’d he go to college…? He went to some school in NYC too—can’t remember which one. After his second year, I met his girlfriend. I can’t tell you her name, right? She was good for him, good pick. She got him out of his little bubble. He never dated anyone before her—wonder if she knew that? They stayed together after college, and I got to see him graduate with his degree in business. He graduated with honors too; I’ll never forget that part. I think he would have done better if he went into writing. He got some job at a corp., and worked in one of those cubicles. I visited him once. Really boring place… other than that, I know he got engaged. He didn’t stay in touch much.” -The above was graciously given to us by Mrs. Hawthorne.
“You met his mom already? Does she still think of him well? I hope she does. She didn’t get to see him change like I did. I already mentioned that he did, and what he did. Back in 2009, that’s when it all started. His personality just changed so fast. One night, he went out with some friends of his for dinner. Then, they all came back late, and it was like they were all different. I didn’t know why then, and it just felt like I was living with someone else as my fiancé. I figured out a year or two later, long after he left, what really happened: the Yeerks. One of them got into his head and changed him into this awful person.
He left a few months after he got infested—that’s the right word, right? I think he stayed in Buffalo. He must’ve since I saw his face around a few times. Buffalo started changing too. All these Yeerks started taking over, and making everyone else like them. I don’t know if that makes sense. I started not seeing him out and about anymore. He got quiet—never saw him after November in 2010. I heard rumors though—his Yeerk’s name is Nyx, and he was planning stuff behind the scenes. I didn’t even know he planned out the government of New York City getting infested. He did all that. Well, not him. But almost all of the crimes that happened in New York for the next year or so, he’s involved somehow. Don’t ask me to explain how. He just is.
If you see him again after you talk to me, tell him that I miss him. Don’t tell him where I am ‘cause then his Yeerk will try to do something. Maybe I’ll find him when this is all over.” -The above was graciously provided by his fiancé.
There are no further records at this point. After we release him, it is unknown where he will go, or if he intends to stay in New York. He pointed at three possible places: Georgia, Colorado, or Seattle, Washington.

I like the personality profile-type format you used for this application. Very unique and tied in nicely with the RP sample. I see no reason why this controller application shouldn't be
ACCEPTED!
Simply submit a face claim and you will be ready to post. Matt or Tim will change the color of your character's name when they get a chance.
