It had been what seemed like forever since she had been off the Sanctuary. That, and it'd been practically forever since she'd seen Jack. It was horrible. The brunette was able to send him a message, telling him to meet her at the pool, and she changed into something better than sweats. So here she was, sitting at the edge of the deep end and being bored out of her mind. He'd better come. She was going to kill him if he didn't.
Rubbing her temples, the animorph yawned as she kicked her feet in the water, enjoying the feel of it between her toes as she stared into the pool. She always enjoyed the water, it was nice and relaxing. It helped her think when she needed to clear her head, and that was something she always looked forward to. She checked her watch after ten minutes, feeling her stomach growl as she sighed, pulling herself out of the water and stretching as she felt herself starting to grumble. Stupid Jack. She knew better than to try and pull him away from leader duties. Whatever. She was still recovering from all the craziness that happened a few months earlier, her hand instinctively touching where she had been shot, but she sighed as she expelled the memory. She hated thinking of that day. Sure, she saved Jack's life, but dying was something she feared more than life itself.
Shivering at the thought of being so cold, Sam sighed as she grabbed her jacket and started pacing around the pool, grumbling slightly. She refused to go back to the ship just yet. She'd give him twenty more minutes.

It had been awhile since Jack had managed to get some free time to spend. In fact he almost didn't get it. Being one of the leaders of the Animorphs didn't exactly give him much time to take a breather. He was a bit worried when he got Sam's message to meet her. He wasn't sure if he was going to be able to. Somehow, he got Eric to cover for him, though Jack probably will get reminded of that for a while now. It was a small price to pay, to be able to spend some time with his girlfriend. Man, it was still a bit odd to say, as it had been while since he had one.
There was another reason though why he was a bit nervous as he approached the pool. It was the pool itself. He usually pretty good at hiding his fear and thankfully, this would just look like him being nervous about meeting up so late. However, he was still bad about being near water. Kyle and Ashley had found out the hard way about his fear and there was maybe a few others, but it wasn't a well known fact Jack was afraid of drowning and that made him nervous near water. He wondered if Sam expected him to come here to swim and that made him a bit worried, as he had come in jeans and T-shirt, with a light jacket over that. It wasn't like he had much time to really get himself ready here.
Jack was a little bit relieved to see Sam was not dressed to swim, as that maybe meant that was not the plan here. She looked a little annoyed, but hopefully that look would go away once she noticed him. He gave her a wave and a smile as he approached. "I'm not too late am I?" he lightly teased as he walked up to her. It was good to see Sam finally back to normal after that harrowing experience awhile back. Hopefully today could be spent relaxing and enjoying each other's company.

"Oh for the love of god," Sam groaned, feeling a little dizzy after she kept pacing before she sat at the edge of the pool again, her head in her hands. It took her a moment to realize Jack was nearby when she heard the footsteps, looking up at her boyfriend as he greeted her and before she knew it she was on her feet once again and launching herself into his arms.
"I feel like I haven't seen you in years..." she murmured, wrapping her arms around his neck as she held him close, running her fingers through his hair in the hug. She pulled out of the hug for only a moment, kissing his lips tenderly as she held him close.
Everything was better once he was there. He was in her arms again and things made sense again. Sam sighed, breathing in his scent as she held him tight. It felt like years since she'd seen him, and it didn't help that the leaders were really busy lately... Unfortunately she couldn't shake the feeling that Jack was hiding something from her. She could sense he was uneasy about something, and she knew he probably wasn't going to tell her about it, but it was worth a shot.
Moving a strand of hair from his face, the brunette looked up at the boy and raised an eyebrow. "So are you going to tell me what's wrong, or am I going to have to beat you up?" she asked, tilting her head as she reached up and placed her hand on his cheek. She hated it when he kept things from her. Even small things. And with things being so tense lately, her nerves have been on edge, so her patience was very thin these days.

Jack was taken by surprise at how quickly Sam launched herself at him. He almost didn't have enough time to prepare himself from falling over. "I know what you mean," he replied as he hugged her back and returned her kiss. He played with her hair a bit, while she ran her fingers through his hair. He hated that they had been so busy lately, but it couldn't be helped. He couldn't exactly just abandon his responsibilities. He wasn't that kind of person after all. Thankfully Sam understood that, or at least Jack hoped she did. It wasn't like he was busy on purpose.
Though it was then that Sam mentioned that he looked uneasy. She always seemed to be able to notice that. He both loved that and hated that. Of course Sam didn't know about his fear of water and he wasn't about to go explaining that. He probably should, but how stupid would it look if one of the leader of the group that could turn into animals was afraid of a little water? So of course he didn't tell her that and told her something else. "Well, I was worried I kept you waiting too long," he started off. While true, he knew that she wouldn't buy that that was all he was worried about. "Aaaand, a little worried about how long Eric is going to hold me making him cover for me over my head," he finished.
He then gave her a grin. "Besides you wouldn't want to beat me up. We'd risk losing this beautiful face of mine," he teased. Hopefully that would be enough to distract her from his uneasiness near water. Maybe if he was lucky it would distract him enough from the water not to think about it as well.

"Geez, I've missed you" she murmured, leaning into him as he played with her hair, leaning her forehead against his. She knew he was busy, and sure it'd be easier for her to date someone who didn't have this sort of responsibility, but she loved Jack. It didn't matter whether he was busy or not, he always made time for her at some point.
"You didn't keep me waiting too long, it's alright. I'm just antsy lately," she sighed, shaking her head as she looked up at him and raised an eyebrow at the last comment. "Eric? Seriously? Since when is he helpful?"
Sam snorted at his last statement, shaking her head in amusement. "Think you're so funny, eh Blue Eyes?" she teased, smirking slightly as she took a step towards him, not noting the deep end of the pool behind the boy as she continued on. "Fine, I won't beat ya up. I'll just .... Go ahead and do this instead," [/color] she answered, playfully shoving him into the pool with a giggle, not processing that was why Jack was upset in the first place.[/blockquote]

Jack let out a sigh of relief. He was glad she hadn't been waiting too long. Though it just looked like she was glad he was here. He didn't blame her for that, he was glad he had managed to make it. "Missed you too," he replied. He also didn't blame her for being antsy, she had been shot and while she was ding better, it still seemed to bother her from time to time. Not like Jack could really blame her for that, he'd be more worried if that didn't bother her. He gave another small grin "You should give Eric a bit more credit. He comes through when you need him too," he told her.
He couldn't help but smile when she commented on how funny he thought he was. "Well, I don't like to brag, but...." he started teasingly. Though he didn't really have time to think of anything else as Sam soon said she wouldn't beat him up, but then pushed him into the pool. That wasn't good. He was caught of guard and fell right in. For most people this would be no big deal. Unfortunately it was for Jack. He started flailing around in the water, his mind having just shutdown from fear. He should've just tried his best to make it over to the side of the pool, but he normally had more time to prepare for that. The look on his face was shear panic, there was no denying that.
Jack tried to calm himself down, enough that he could actually move through the water, but it wasn't working. He kept flailing in the water, causing it to splash all around him and unfortunately making it harder for him to see and realize it was again only a pool and not a larger body of water. Calm down, Jack! Calm down! Calm down! he kept repeating to himself, but it wasn't working and he was just doing himself more harm than good in the water.

Sam giggled for a moment, waiting for Jack to resurface, only to see him come back up and start panicking. She'd seen that look on his face only once before, and instantly she knew she'd done something wrong. "Jack?" she squeaked, sensing his fear and seeing the look on his face before she realized. Jack was afraid of the water.
Jumping into the water at full speed, Sam hit the bottom and launched herself off the floor of the pool, snatching up Jack in her arms and focusing. She felt her legs form the tail of her manatee morph, keeping her hold on Jack as she propelled the two of them from the deep end. Well. Lifting weights and getting into fights with people much larger than her finally came in handy. It was a matter of moments before she was able to touch the bottom without going under, her legs reforming as she gave Jack a squeeze. She shivered, tightening her grip on him as she kept him up in the slightly awkward but natural bridal-style.
"Shh... It's going to be alright," she whispered, trying to keep calm as she tread through the water and walked up the stairs with Jack in hand. Hearing the amount of water dripping from their clothes, Sam pressed her lips to his temple and held Jack tight. Her legs felt like noodles, and she was shaking, but she stood her ground and held onto her boyfriend for dear life. "Why didn't you tell me...?" she choked, burying her face into his hair as she held him closer. "I'm sorry... I'm so sorry... Jack I'm the biggest asshole in the world please forgive me!" she sobbed, feeling her knees finally give out on her and she fell, shielding Jack by rolling over so he landed on top of her, pulling him tight against her. "I'm so sorry love..."

Jack was trying hard to calm down. Usually he had a lot more mental preparation before touching the water. Being shoved so suddenly in, just made his mind go blank. He would have been screwed, if Sam hadn't suddenly scooped him up and moved them over to the shallow end of the pool. He started to calm down a bit once that happened, hearing Sam's voice helped him start to snap out of it too. He coughed up some water he had accidentally swallowed from falling in. He could barely feel his legs, it was like they just wouldn't respond to him. It felt kind of weird to be carried by out by Sam, but he was barely even registering it. He took deep breaths, as he started to calm down once they were out.
Jack soon felt himself fall on top of Sam. It seemed her legs had given out from holding on to him. He felt terrible, he hadn't meant to have her see him like this. He then started registering what she had been saying. She was crying and he couldn't stand that. Not when it was his fault he was such a wuss in the water. Once he finally caught his breath, he rolled them over so that Sam was on top and he was on the bottom and then pulled her close. "Don't cry...you don't need to be sorry," he told her reassuring her. "Its my fault for not saying anything," He stroked her hair, trying to calm her down now that he was calmer. "Its okay....Its okay...I'm okay...We're fine now,"
Some time off this was turning out to be. This was just perfect, and Jack couldn't help but mentally slap himself. He should have mentioned his fear of water right away, to avoid something like this. He leaned up to kiss Sam's forehead. He then gave a light smile. "Some boyfriend, huh? Leader of the Animorphs, but can't even handle a little water..." he lightly joked, though it was obvious he was also upset with himself.

The brunette kept her grip on Jack as the two of them attempted to catch their breath, stroking his hair and keeping him close as she waited to make sure he was alright. Her heart was racing, her nerves were shot to hell, and she was petrified that if she let go she would wake up and he would be drowning again. The girl let out a surprised squeak when he rolled them over, instantly clinging to him once she felt she was on top of him.
She listened to what he had to say, she did, but that didn't stop the fact that she was feeling 20 different things at once. Anger, sadness, horrible guilt, confusion, helplessness? All these things and none of them were processing quite right. Feeling his lips on her forehead, the female animorph sighed as she closed her eyes, leaning into his touch as she heard him speak again, but this time she could sense the guilt radiating off of him.
"Don't even think about blaming yourself, I should have seen this coming," she scolded, lifting herself off his chest and hovering over him as her free hand stroked his cheek. "I can usually tell when something's wrong with you, but I read it wrong and ended up causing all this trouble. I'm so sorry." Leaning down and deeply kissing the boy beneath her, Sam finally felt her heart rate slow down to a normal pace, running her fingers through his wet locks as she did so. He was here, he was fine, and in one piece. That was all that mattered, and she felt better knowing that he was there. Within her grasp and kissing her, that was enough reassurance for now. She thought she'd lost him, and that would have destroyed her. Death and dying was something she had been afraid of since she was a child, and if she lost Jack... Well. That's not an option. She would defend him with her life, she proved it awhile ago, and she did it despite her fear. Pulling away from the kiss when the need for air became painfully apparent, the girl leaned her forehead against his as she sighed. "Is there anything I can do...?"

Of course Sam would not let Jack blame himself in anyway for this one. While he appreciated the sentiment, in all honesty if he had been up front about his fear it wouldn't have happened. He was going to try and explain this more but soon found himself in a deep kiss with her. She was obviously still upset at what she had done. He wished he or Sam were a little less stubborn, then they wouldn't be playing this blame game all the time. However she at least seemed to have calmed down a bit now, which was good. Jack had calmed down enough as well. They were both fine, that was what was important.
Sam then asked him if there was anything she could do. He lightly smiled. "Got a towel?" he asked jokingly. After all they were still pretty soaked, it'd be nice to dry off a bit. He then got a bit more serious. "And can we just both admit it was both our faults and call this even? I should have said something. I'm usually able to mental prepare myself better than I did. You pushed me without knowing about it." He then smiled again. "I also keep forgetting you're stronger than you look," he teased. How he was able to still tease her was beyond him, but he was hoping for a smile. That'd make him feel a whole lot better and then he'd know she had calmed down a bit more.

"Got a towel?'
Sam rolled her eyes, shaking her head in amusement as she looked over to where she'd left her purse, pulling over her towel and dumping it onto his head, morphing into Sandy and shaking off the excess water from herself before morphing back, listening to what Jack had to say. She sighed, nodding as she wrung out her hair and looked back at him with a grumble. "Fine, fine. I'll share blame. Just this once," she answered, poking his forehead and kissing his lips gently.
At his comment about her being stronger than she looked, Sam laughed, leaning her forehead against his with a small smile as she scooted closer to him. "Don't you forget it!" she grinned, feeling a lot better now that they were poking fun at each other. "Good to know that I'm strong enough to pick ya up and carry you off though. Can come in handy when you're off doing leader stuff for weeks on end and I'm neglected. Now I can just come into the meeting room and hoist ya over my shoulder if I need to," she winked, sticking her tongue out at him with a giggle.

Jack soon felt a towel over his face. Of course Sam had dumped it over his head. He wouldn't have expected anything less. "Thanks," he said with a grin. He used it to dry of his hair first since it was already there, even if it didn't really need it. He then started drying himself best he could, as he saw Sam wring out her hair. He was also glad she agreed to share the blame, that made him feel better. The kiss after she said so didn't hurt either. He chuckled. "That's all I ask," he responded.
He also laughed as she told him not to forget how strong she was. "Don't worry, its not anything I'll be able to forget anytime soon," he teased. She also went on about how she now knew she could carry him off to be with her if she ever felt neglected. "Oh so that's what you'll do now huh?" he asked playfully. "Who says I'll let ya?" He also stuck his tongue back at her. It was good that they were back at poking fun at each other. The less said about him almost downing the better.

"Oh so that's what you'll do now huh? Who says I'll let ya?"
"Who says you get a choice in the matter? You know me, if I feel like it I'll hoist ya over my shoulder and I'll be damned if you get a word in edgewise," she chuckled, shaking her head as she looked back up at him. "Besides, you loooooove me. I do what I want, as long as I don't get myself or anyone else hurt, so I get away with a little more than I should. If I didn't then I wouldn't be me, and that would be absolutely no fun at all."
Sam sighed, snuggling closer to the other animorph as she lazily draped an arm over his waist and pulled him to her. The shock of all this was still wearing off, but she was more concerned about Jack than herself. "Jack, I'm sorry about the pool..." she murmured, looking up into his blue eyes. "Why didn't you tell me...? I know almost everything about you and yet this got past me." She wasn't trying to bring it up again, but she still felt bad. She'd known him for two years and yet this never even came up, then again whenever they had down time Sam didn't think they ever ended up at the pool. Or the beach. Then again there's more to do at the beach, but they all had such little to no free time that it was making things harder to remember. Had they gone somewhere where water was involved and did Jack get antsy? This was going to bother her until she figured it out.
