The Plot
Six years ago the Animorphs won the war with the yeerks. A year later Esplin 9466 was tried for war crimes against humanity and found guilty. The Animorphs had thought things were over and - despite that life would never be the same - were trying to move on. Then three years ago a new threat arose, The One.
When we last saw the Animorphs, Ax, who had been tasked with finding the blade ship that had escaped them in the final showdown, was absorbed by The One. Jake had taken a ship - dubbed The Rachel - into space with a crew of five others, among them Marco and Tobias. Their goal had been to save Ax, but it was too late for that. In an attempt to defeat The One, Jake gave an order to ram The One's ship...
A year later their fate was still unknown, but clearly their attempt to defeat The One hadn't worked. His ship arrived on Earth. Cassie, the only remaining Animorph, did the only thing she could think of. She stole the escafil device and gave the morphing power to three teenagers. This would be her final act, as she was killed shortly thereafter by The One's yeerk worshipers.
It is two years later now, and earth is once again at war. The three teens Cassie recruited have been recruiting their own army of Animorphs to combat not only The One and his followers, but a new batch of yeerks as well. Unknown to them, they and their team of Animorphs are the new pawns of the Ellimist in a three-way game with The One and Crayak. It's anyone's game, and losing could mean the end of the world as we know it.
The Setting
Earth is being invaded again, but this is a very different invasion from the previous one. People know about the yeerks, so there is no attempt to hide what they are doing. They are very open about the invasion and enslavement of the human race. Also, there is The One and his band of yeerks. They focus not on enslaving the humans, but leading unwitting people away, never to return because they are absorbed into The One. Some cities have been completely enslaved by the yeerks, some have been completely absorbed by The One, but many are fighting back.
Currently Earth is on it's own. Crayak - because of his neutrality in this game - teamed up with The One momentarily to cause a shift in Z-Space. It is preventing any andalites not on Earth at the time of the invasion from coming to the aid of their human allies. It is also adding to the issues preventing the crew of The Rachel from returning to Earth. This is to put Ellimist at a disadvantage, forcing him to rely on his new, human pawns.
The new generation of Animorphs are not completely alone. Toby and the free hork-bajir are there to help them as well as any andalites who were on Earth prior to the Z-Space shift. Plus the new leaders have formed a tentative alliance with the Chee, mostly because of the added threat of The One. The only downside is the Animorphs - like the yeerks - cannot easily hide what they are doing. People know about them and the leaders - Jack, Kyle, and Ashley - are famous in their hometown of Seattle, Washington. Because of this, a year ago they stole a blade ship - dubbed The Sanctuary - and have been using this as their base of operations.
